Import Excel, CSV, and TSV files from Dropbox into Better Analyst for AI chats, dashboards, charts, and reports.

Connect Dropbox to choose files from your Dropbox account and import them into Better Analyst for AI-powered analysis.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Dropbox file you want to analyze
  • A supported spreadsheet or tabular file
  • A browser that can open the Dropbox Chooser popup

Better Analyst uses the Dropbox Chooser for selected-file import. It imports the files you choose immediately and does not store Dropbox OAuth tokens for background access in this version.

Setup Steps

1. Open Dropbox Import

  1. Go to Dashboard
  2. Click Add Data
  3. Select Dropbox

Better Analyst opens the Dropbox Chooser.

2. Sign In and Select Files

  1. Sign in to Dropbox if prompted
  2. Choose one or more Excel, CSV, or TSV files
  3. Click Choose or Select

Better Analyst downloads the temporary direct links immediately, imports the selected files, and makes them available in your workspace.

3. Analyze the Files

Use the imported files in AI chat, dashboards, charts, reports, and spreadsheet workflows. Better Analyst reads the imported copies and leaves the source Dropbox files unchanged.

Supported Files

Dropbox imports work best with structured data:

  • Excel workbooks
  • CSV files
  • TSV files

Troubleshooting

Dropbox Picker Did Not Open

  • Allow popups for Better Analyst
  • Refresh the dashboard and try again
  • Make sure Dropbox is not blocked by your browser or content filter

File Did Not Import

  • Confirm the file is an Excel, CSV, or TSV file
  • Make sure the file still exists in Dropbox
  • Try selecting the file again from the Dropbox Chooser

Dropbox Is Not Configured

Better Analyst needs NEXT_PUBLIC_DROPBOX_APP_KEY configured for the Dropbox Chooser. Production and staging environment variables are managed manually in the Render dashboard.

Security Notes

Better Analyst imports only the files you explicitly choose in the Dropbox Chooser. The first Dropbox version does not store Dropbox OAuth tokens, does not sync files in the background, and does not edit, delete, or overwrite source Dropbox files.
